The short version: this website doesn’t track you, and the extension keeps your things in your browser. The long version is below. It isn’t much longer. It covers verywww.com and the VeryWWW extension, version 1.5.
N° 01 — This website
verywww.com
No cookies.
The site doesn’t set any.
No analytics, trackers or ads.
Nothing on these pages counts, profiles or follows you, and they make no third-party requests: the fonts, scripts and images all come from verywww.com itself.
No forms.
Nothing here asks for your email address, or for anything else.
One choice remembered, on your device.
If you switch the front page between Light and Dark, that choice is kept in your browser’s local storage so the next visit starts in the right colours. It never leaves your browser.
Hosted on Cloudflare.
Like any web host, Cloudflare processes standard request data — your IP address, your browser’s user agent, the page asked for — to deliver the site. That happens under Cloudflare’s own privacy policy.
N° 02 — The extension
The new tab
VeryWWW is local-first. Your tools, notes, priorities, prompts, Spaces, calendar, Project Shelf and settings are stored in your browser, on your computer. There is no VeryWWW account, no VeryWWW server and no analytics. Nothing is sent to us.
Chrome sync, if you switch it on.
In Settings → Privacy & data. Your tools, groups, Spaces, prompts and settings are then kept in Chrome’s own sync storage, so they follow you to computers where you’re signed in to Chrome with your Google account; Google handles that sync under its own terms. Notes, calendar, saved links, recent activity, the Today list, Project Shelf and your own images are never synced.
Weather, once you set a city.
Nothing is fetched until then. After that, VeryWWW asks Open-Meteo to find your city and, from its coordinates, for the forecast. Like any request, it reaches Open-Meteo with your IP address; no cookies or referrer go with it. Sunrise and sunset for automatic Light/Dark are worked out on your computer.
Google Calendar, if you connect it.
You sign in with Google and VeryWWW reads your upcoming events, read-only, straight from Google into your browser. The sign-in token is kept in memory for that page and never stored. Without the connection, the calendar is local, with .ics import and export.
AI, on your device only.
The side panel’s Ask view summarises a page or runs one of your prompts with Chrome’s built-in model (Gemini Nano). The text is processed on your computer and sent nowhere. If Chrome doesn’t have the model yet, it may download it the first time.
AI sites stay on their side.
Tiles open the real sites — ChatGPT, Claude and the rest. VeryWWW can’t read your conversations there or send anything to them. Copy & open and Paste and Ask put text on your clipboard and open the site; you paste and send it yourself.
Web pages, only when you ask.
VeryWWW can read or change a page only when you use one of its right-click items or shortcuts on it — to save it, summarise it or dim it — and then only that page.
Two places it can connect to.
The extension’s own security policy allows network connections to Open-Meteo (weather) and Google’s APIs (Calendar), and nowhere else.
